Apprentice Development Pathway
3 YEAR TRAINING PERIOD*
Based on your entry qualifications, typically you will undertake an apprenticeship through either Group Horizon’s BEMS Programme, delivered via structured online learning, or JTL’s Electrical Installation Apprenticeship, delivered through weekly day‑release at college.
Both pathways provide recognised electrical or BEMS qualifications and are designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical experience required to progress.

WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE
Learning how to use hand and power tools to build complex electronic control panels and motor control centres. Quality control checks and functional testing.
CONTRACT SUPPORT
Learning to create and understand electrical wiring diagrams from specifications and building plans. Working closely with the workshop and project teams.
ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION DEPARTMENT
By supporting installation teams on construction sites, apprentices will gain hands‑on experience in containment, cabling, and equipment installation.
PROJECT TEAMS
Assisting with design and commissioning of control systems, working alongside more senior engineers both in the office and on site.
TECHNICAL TEAM
A deep dive into the programming of control system operations. Also offering remote support to mobile engineers across the country.
MAINTENANCE
Apprentices will gain hands‑on experience completing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting faults, and assisting engineers with repairs to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and compliant.
POST-APPRENTICESHIP EMPLOYMENT
Your intended role after completion of your apprenticeship is to become an engineer or electrician in one of our project or maintenance departments.
As the industry evolves, so do our roles. We support transition between departments and further training.
Primarily Tunbridge Wells office based.
Once your apprenticeship is complete, site attendance will likely become more frequent.

You will gain experience in:
Workshop, Contract Support, Electrical Installation, Projects and Maintenance.
Day to day reporting to your department manager, but with direct access to one of the business directors for additional mentoring.
To successfully gain the appropriate qualification and relevant experience to become a BMS Control Engineer or Electrician.
